Andreas Nick has worked in IT as a consultant since 1998, focused on application packaging and deployment automation. What started with Microsoft App-V and MSI packaging and Citrix Terminal Services has, over the years, moved on to MSIX — the throughline always the same goal: making application delivery repeatable and automatable.
In 2007 he went independent and today runs the IT consultancy Nick Informationstechnik GmbH.
Beyond packaging, he specialises in the full Citrix product range and in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
A recurring theme in his work is editing and repairing packages without depending on the vendor’s official tooling — a line that runs from the App-V, MSI and Citrix years through to MSIX today. MSIXForcelets is the latest expression of that approach.
Andreas is also an author: he wrote the only German-language book on Microsoft App-V 5 — Softwarevirtualisierung mit App-V – Ein Praxisbuch — and a book on MSIX is currently in the works.
He has been a co-organiser of the MAD Day for years — a community event around modern application packaging and deployment, run together with Sebastian Gernert and colleagues from Microsoft.
His current projects include MSIXForcelets and zeroportal.de; his personal site is andreasnick.com.
Away from the keyboard, Andreas is married and a father of two.
